First calls with Danish founders are refreshingly blunt. Within ten minutes they have usually asked whether we understand their market, whether we will break their consent setup and why they should hire someone so far away. A digital marketing agency Copenhagen companies take seriously needs straight answers to all three.
So here are the questions we hear most, answered as we would answer them on a call. One fact comes first, because founders always ask: Arb Digital operates online from Pakistan. We have no Copenhagen office, desk or employee, and we say so before anything else.
"Do you actually know who our customers are?"
Statistics Denmark recorded 670,389 residents in Copenhagen Municipality on 1 July 2026, and the wider capital region adds many more commuters, students and visitors. That population is young, digital and comfortable in English, which tempts many firms to market only in English.
Our answer on the call is more careful. Copenhageners shopping for services, food, homes and everyday goods mostly search in Danish, while tech, design, hospitality and international recruitment attract plenty of English searches. A Nordhavn software start-up hiring developers and selling abroad might be right to lead in English. A Vesterbro bike repair shop would be wrong to. We plan Danish keyword research and page structure, write the English pages ourselves, and leave final Danish copy to a native writer you appoint.

"Is Google the only place that matters?"
No. Danes buy and sell second-hand goods heavily on DBA.dk, so a furniture restorer or bike dealer that ignores it misses buyers at the point of purchase. Customer-feedback platforms carry weight in Danish purchasing decisions too, and LinkedIn is where most B2B buyers in the city can be reached with paid campaigns.
We map these channels before proposing a budget. A worked example: an Ørestad furniture brand might put most effort into product-page SEO and shopping ads, keep a curated DBA presence for refurbished stock, and use Meta only for retargeting. Each channel gets its own tracking so the founders can see what pays.
"Will you get us in trouble with Danish marketing law?"
Not if we do the job properly. Denmark's rules are stricter than many founders expect, and they apply to business recipients as well as consumers:
- Markedsføringsloven § 10 is the Danish spam ban. Email, SMS and other electronic marketing need prior consent, and the Consumer Ombudsman confirms it covers companies too. A narrow exception lets you market products in the same category to existing customers who can opt out simply and free of charge.
- Cold calls to consumers are generally banned under the Consumer Contracts Act, and § 10(4) bars contacting anyone on the CPR Robinson list.
- Cookies fall under the Danish cookie executive order, supervised by Digitaliseringsstyrelsen since December 2022, while Datatilsynet oversees the GDPR.
For a client, that means opt-in forms with clear wording, a banner that genuinely blocks tags, and no bought lists. We are marketers, not lawyers, so tricky questions go to your adviser.
"Why would we hire a team in Pakistan?"
Fair question, and we would rather you asked it than wondered silently. Our honest answer: hire us if you want senior-level SEO and paid-search work, clear written reporting and a team that is available through the whole Danish morning. Do not hire us if you need someone in the room for weekly workshops in Copenhagen.
The hours work like this. Denmark uses Central European Time, and Pakistan sits at UTC+5 all year, so we are four hours ahead in winter and three ahead during Danish summer time. Our 9am to 6pm PKT working day covers roughly 5am to 2pm in Copenhagen in winter and 6am to 3pm while clocks are on summer time. Afternoon calls can be booked in advance.
"What would the first three months look like?"
For a typical Copenhagen service business, month one is an audit and fixes: crawl problems, slow pages, missing structured data, and a consent setup that actually holds tags back. Our technical SEO work usually starts there. Month two adds content aimed at specific searches in Danish and English, plus a tightly targeted Google Ads campaign with conversion tracking agreed in writing. Month three is the first proper review: what was indexed, which terms moved, how many enquiries came from each channel.
None of this involves guarantees. It involves visible work and figures you can check yourself in accounts your company owns.
"How do contracts and payment work with a digital marketing agency Copenhagen firms hire abroad?"
Simply. Engagements roll over monthly and can be stopped with 30 days' warning. We take payment through bank transfer alone, and correspondence comes from [email protected]. You keep administrator access to analytics, Search Console and ad accounts, so nothing is held hostage if you leave.
For official help, Danish Business Authority is the Danish business portal, and the regional business hubs offer free guidance to growing firms. Our Denmark guide covers the national picture, and Oslo and other Nordic capitals appear on our Europe overview.
