Denmark's business economy held 379,306 enterprises in 2024, Eurostat reports, and 347,593 of those, 91.6%, were micro-enterprises. That share is lower than in Sweden or the Netherlands, which in plain terms means Denmark has a slightly thicker middle: more firms with a real team, a sales function and a budget line for marketing. 915 enterprises employ 250 people or more. If you are weighing up a digital marketing agency Denmark businesses can hire without a long contract, this structure explains why so many Danish firms want measurable lead generation rather than vague brand work.
Arb Digital works remotely from Pakistan, with no Danish office or phone number. We deliver in English during your morning, and every plan starts from Danish marketing law, which is stricter than most people expect.
Why does Denmark's thicker middle change the brief?
A company with ten to fifty people usually has someone who owns marketing but rarely a specialist for each channel. That person needs a partner who can run search and paid media, explain results in plain language and leave a written record of what was done. Fewer one-person firms also means fewer purely local, word-of-mouth businesses and more companies selling across the whole country or abroad.
For those firms the priorities tend to be: a site that loads fast and is easy for Google to crawl, service and product pages that answer buyer questions in detail, and paid campaigns that show cost per enquiry rather than clicks. The 915 large enterprises take the broadest phrases, so mid-sized firms do better owning niches: a specific machine type, a particular industry, a region of Jutland or Zealand.

What can a digital marketing agency Denmark law allows actually do with email?
Less than in most countries, and this is the single biggest surprise for newcomers. The Danish spam ban in markedsfΓΈringsloven Β§ 10(1) forbids email, SMS and other electronic marketing without prior consent, and the Consumer Ombudsman's guidance confirms it covers business recipients too. Cold B2B email campaigns that are routine elsewhere are not an option here.
There is a soft opt-in: you may email existing customers about products in the same category, provided they can opt out easily and free of charge. Everyone else must sign up first. So we build list growth around useful downloads, newsletters and event sign-ups, with consent recorded at each step. These are rules your campaigns have to respect; we are not lawyers, and your own adviser should confirm anything specific.
And what about phone sales and cookies?
Calls follow two separate rules. The general ban on unsolicited sales calls to consumers sits in forbrugeraftaleloven Β§ 4(1), and it applies whether or not the person is on the Robinson list. MarkedsfΓΈringsloven Β§ 10(4) adds that you may not contact anyone who has objected or who carries the Robinson marking in the CPR register. Calls to businesses are generally lawful, except to sole traders on that list. The Ombudsman's overview of telephone sales sets this out.
Cookies are governed by a separate executive order, and Digitaliseringsstyrelsen has supervised it since 15 December 2022. GDPR questions go to Datatilsynet. In practice we install a proper consent banner and Google Consent Mode before any tracking or remarketing goes live.
How do Danes search, and in which language?
Danish consumers search mainly in Danish, especially for anything local, regulated or price-driven. Business buyers, tech teams and international companies around Copenhagen and Aarhus use English freely, and many Danish exporters run English-language sites as their main storefront.
We write and optimise English content. For Danish pages we supply keyword research, page structure and a brief your writer or translator can follow, and we set up hreflang so the two versions do not compete. We are upfront that native Danish copywriting is not part of our service.
Price comparison is a strong habit. PriceRunner is widely used for checking prices, DBA carries second-hand and private sales, and Amazon is present. Checkout expectations lean towards MobilePay. A shop that hides delivery costs or payment options until the last step loses Danish buyers quickly. Clear shipping thresholds, return windows and payment logos near the price are small changes that often matter more than another blog post.
What does a typical engagement with us look like?
We work weekdays from 9am to 6pm Pakistan time. For Copenhagen that means a window from about 6am to 3pm in summer and 5am to 2pm after the clocks change, so written updates are waiting when you log on and calls fit comfortably before lunch. Afternoon or evening calls can be booked in advance.
- Free audit of crawlability, speed, content, tracking and consent.
- A ninety-day roadmap naming target keywords, pages and campaigns.
- Monthly delivery: SEO, Google Ads and technical fixes, plus a short report on enquiries and spend.
There is no lock-in: give thirty days' notice whenever you want to stop. We invoice for bank transfer payment. Ask for your audit via the contact form.
Who else can help Danish firms for free?
The regional Erhvervshusene (Business Hubs) give free guidance on growth, digitalisation and export. Virk is the public portal for registrations and reporting, and Business in Denmark explains the essentials in English. Combining that free support with focused paid help is usually the most efficient route for a growing company.
Danish city guides will follow in a later wave. For now, see the Europe hub for all countries, or compare with our Sweden guide, the closest neighbouring market we cover.
