If you are evaluating a marketing agency Indiana businesses can trust, you will notice the search results are mostly directories of Indianapolis and Fort Wayne firms. What they rarely cover is the thing that changed most for Indiana marketers recently: since January 1, 2026, the Indiana Consumer Data Protection Act has been in force. Arb Digital is a remote team serving Indiana from St. Petersburg, Florida. There is no Indianapolis office on our side, and we prefer to make that clear before anything else.
This guide covers the Indiana market the way we would brief a new account: the Census picture, the industries that dominate from Elkhart to Evansville, what the competitive search landscape looks like, the new privacy statute and the state's own Do Not Call list, and how a remote engagement with us runs day to day.
The Hoosier business base in Census numbers
Indiana's population stands at 6,851,073 in the ACS 5-year estimate. The 2023 County Business Patterns release lists 155,692 establishments with 2,924,989 employees on the mid-March payroll, and Indiana founders filed 89,768 business applications during 2025.
Retail trade has the most establishments at 21,015. Health care and social assistance ranks second at 19,159 and the Census category of other services, covering repair shops, salons, laundries and membership organizations, is third at 17,107. All three serve customers who live nearby, which means Google's local results, Business Profiles and customer feedback drive a large share of new revenue across the state.
Those counts also understate something important. Indiana has one of the highest shares of manufacturing employment of any state, and the factories, suppliers and logistics firms behind that work tend to be larger establishments. They do not top the count, but they shape hiring, B2B buying and the local economy in places like Kokomo, Columbus and Elkhart. A good Indiana plan considers both audiences: local consumers and industrial buyers.

RVs, engines, pharma and freight: matching Indiana industries to channels
Manufacturing and suppliers. Elkhart County's RV builders, engine and auto parts plants around Columbus and Kokomo, and steel in Northwest Indiana sell to procurement teams. Spec sheets, capability pages, certifications and technical content do the heavy lifting, while recruiting campaigns fill second shifts.
Life sciences and health care. Pharmaceutical and medical device companies in Indianapolis and Warsaw sell nationally under strict regulatory review, so content must be accurate and compliant. Local hospitals, clinics and dental groups compete for patients through local SEO and clear service pages.
Logistics. Indiana's interstate network and Indianapolis's air cargo hub support a huge distribution economy. 3PLs, carriers and warehouse operators benefit from quote-intent Google Ads, detailed lane and facility pages and driver recruiting.
Agriculture, education and tourism. Ag equipment dealers and grain businesses sell to farmers who research online. University towns like Bloomington and West Lafayette follow academic calendars, and Indianapolis event weeks, from motorsports to conventions, create short, intense demand spikes for hotels, restaurants and transport.
The search landscape for marketing agency Indiana
Our review of page one showed directory profiles of Indianapolis and Fishers firms, a state list split between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, and an out-of-state agency's Indiana landing page. Evansville, South Bend and Lafayette businesses see few local options in those results.
Inside most categories, Indianapolis and Hamilton County are the most contested markets: home services, injury law, dentistry and realty queries draw national advertisers and lead-generation sites. Fort Wayne and Evansville are moderately competitive, and smaller cities remain relatively open. That suggests sequencing: secure local wins in smaller markets early, and commit to longer content and link programs in central Indiana.
AI assistants now answer many local and B2B questions before a click happens, and they cite pages that present facts plainly. We address that through generative engine optimization. For a primer on the basics, read about what schema markup is and why it helps machines understand your pages.
Indiana's privacy law and Do Not Call list: what marketers must do
The Indiana Consumer Data Protection Act, Indiana Code 24-15, took effect on January 1, 2026. It applies to businesses that handle the personal data of 100,000 or more Indiana consumers in a year, or of at least 25,000 consumers while earning over half their gross revenue from selling personal data. Covered businesses must honor requests to access, correct and delete data, and must let Hoosiers opt out of targeted advertising, data sales and certain profiling. The Attorney General enforces the law, and violators get a 30-day period to cure. For marketers, this touches pixels, audience uploads and data shared with ad platforms.
Indiana also keeps its own Do Not Call list, separate from the federal registry, run by the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. It covers home, wireless and VoIP numbers, and it applies to calls and texts alike. Telemarketers generally must obtain the Indiana list and scrub against it in addition to the national registry. Federal TCPA consent rules, CAN-SPAM and the FTC's rule on fake ratings still apply. We are not a law firm, so confirm obligations with counsel.
Eastern and Central time: how our hours line up
Most of Indiana shares Eastern time with us, so our weekday hours of 9am to 6pm ET match your workday exactly. The northwestern counties near Chicago and the southwestern corner around Evansville follow Central time, where the same hours run from 8am to 5pm. Either way, live calls and quick fixes happen during your business day.
Each account has a named contact and a project board listing current work. Monthly reports are compiled from the Search Console, analytics and advertising accounts held in your name, and those stay with you. Monthly services renew month by month, with no annual lock-in, and a written 30 days' notice ends them. Questions can come by phone at +1 904-668-5277 or by email at [email protected].

For owners deciding where to start online, our guide to increasing website traffic sets out practical first steps.
Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville and Indiana's regions
Indianapolis and its northern suburbs of Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Westfield form the state's largest and most competitive market, with tech, life sciences, sports and professional services. Fort Wayne anchors northeast Indiana with manufacturing, insurance and health care. Evansville serves the tri-state area with Kentucky and Illinois. South Bend, Mishawaka and Elkhart combine Notre Dame with RV and manufacturing employers, and Northwest Indiana's Lake County is effectively part of the Chicago market.
